The Australian Exchange Sterling shows resilience against the dollar, supported on the lower edge of the rising channel

The pound rallied modestly against the dollar during Friday's trading session, marking a notable recovery over the past 48 hours. Lower-than-expected U.S. jobs data led to a weaker dollar, especially in light of the Bank of England's recent rate hike. While this doesn't guarantee an uninterrupted upward trend, it does suggest that the pound is showing active behavior against the dollar. Britons still face severe inflation, as does the U.S.

Britons still face severe inflation, as does the U.S.Below the current level, the 1.2650 level provides ample support, coinciding with the uptrend line. Despite the potential noise in the market, the prevailing sentiment suggests that a rally to the 1.30 level is possible given its psychological importance as a big number. The chart pattern does not indicate an immediate pullback, and traders are ready for a possible uptrend. In other words, buyers are currently becoming more aggressive.

However, it is important to consider alternatives. If a breakout occurs and the price falls below the trendline, it could open the door for a decline to the 200-day moving average, possibly touching 1.2350. With long positions squaring, this pullback would create significant selling pressure, triggering a turn to the dollar to seek safety in a potential panic move. Although this will not happen in the short term, the market could change abruptly and traders should maintain a reasonable position size to effectively manage risk.

Ultimately, the pound showed resilience, rising slightly in the face of cooling US employment data. The Bank of England recently raised interest rates, boosting the pound's position against the dollar. While the upward trend remains unchanged, traders should be alert to potential changes in market sentiment. The 1.30 level is an important target for the pound, but other scenarios could lead to bearish short-term. Proper risk management and staying in touch with random moves by the central bank remain key parts of trading the pair. However, this momentum has signaled the overall stance of the pound. As a result, the market will continue to try to reach the 1.30 level and may even end up near the 1.3250 level.

At 15:50 Beijing time, the pound was 2735/37 against the dollar.
