What is a Forex PAMM account? Features of a Forex PAMM account

Interested in the foreign exchange market, but don't have the time or don't know how to trade? Then a foreign exchange PAMM account may be a good choice. If you keep an eye out for those large foreign exchangebrokerOn the official website, you will find that among the products and services they provide, there are usually PAMM account services. So, what are the functions of the foreign exchange PAMM account?

    What is a PAMM account?

PAMM, or percentage allocation management, is a form of pooling foreign exchange trading funds for management. Investors choose a qualified trader or money manager, and the two parties distribute profits according to the agreed proportion. These traders or money managers may manage multiple foreign exchange trading accounts at the same time, using their own funds and pooled funds to trade for profit.

To better understand PAMM accounts, let's look at an example:

Participants in the PAMM account include:

    ● Forex brokers/foreign exchange brokerage companies

    Trader/money manager

    ● Investors

Suppose there are three investors, Peter, Paul, and Phil, who are all interested in foreign exchange trading, but they either don't have the time or don't have much trading knowledge to trade. Two professional money managers, Marcus and Mathew, happen to have a wealth of trading knowledge, often manage client funds, and of course have their own trading funds. The foreign exchange trading company contracts with Marcus and Mathew to manage investor funds. The above three investors also signed limited authorization engagement letters with the two. The key content of the contract involves the investor handing over the funds to the selected money managers, allowing these money managers to use the pooled funds in accordance with their trading methods and strategies, and ensuring that the corresponding foreign exchange trading risks are clearly known. The contract also stipulates the percentage of profit that the money manager will charge for providing this service.

Suppose the above three investors choose Marcus to manage their funds, and Marcus collects 10% of the profits. Here is a look at each investor's funds and Marcus' own trading funds:

The total amount of funds in this PAMM account is $15,000, and the profit distribution ratio for each investor is as follows:

    Paul: $4,000/$15,000 = 26.67%

    Peter:23.33%

    Phil:16.67%

    Marcus:33.33%

Assuming a one-month trading cycle passes and Marcus makes an awesome 30% profit, or $4,500, so now the PAMM account has a total of $19,500.

Marcus receives 10% of the profit as a service fee, which is $450. The remaining profit of $4,050 will be distributed proportionally to each investor's account:

    Paul: $4,050 * 26.67% = $1,080, the following calculation is the same

    Peter: $945.

    Phil: $675

    Marcus: $1,350

The profit of the first cooperation was so obvious that the three investors decided to continue to cooperate with Marcus for a trading stage. Paul and Peter decided to use the principal and profit together as the second investment funds, while Phil chose to take the profit part and only keep $2,500 to continue trading. Peter also introduced a friend Pike to the PAMM account. Pike's investment amount was $2,625. Another investor who chose Marcus, Pam, also joined in with an investment amount of $1,000. This time the total amount of funds managed by Marcus reached $22,000. Below is the distribution ratio for each investor:

    Paul: $5,080/$22,000 = 23.09%

    Peter:20.20%

    Phil:11.36%

    Marcus:28.86%

    Pike=11.93%

    Pam:4.55%

Marcus' profit margin this time was 15%, or $3,300. Likewise, Marcus' service fee was 10%, or $330. The remaining profit of 2,970 was distributed to various investors according to the ratio:

    Paul: $685.80.

    Peter: $600.08

    Phil: $337.5

    Marcus: $857.25

    Pike:354.38%

    Pam: $135

Next, let's assume that all these investors continue to invest in the above investments and are managed by Marcus for another month, but unfortunately, this time they lose 20%. So first, Marcus does not have any profit service fees, and each investor's investment capital is reduced by 20%, as follows:

    Paul: $4,612.64

    Peter: $4,036.06

    Phil: $2,270

    Marcus: $5,765.8

    Pike: $2,383.5

    Pam: $908

The total amount of funds in the PAMM account managed by Marcus was $19,976.

After each trading phase, investors have the right to choose whether to continue working with this fund manager, partially or completely switch to another fund manager, or simply withdraw their funds.

The role of a foreign exchange broker is to:

Provide a safe and reliable platform for fund managers and investors to interact

    ● urge fund managers to conduct trading activities within the scope of supervision

Manage accounts, deposits and withdrawals, and related activities

In addition to being a normal trading platform, it also provides transparent review, feedback, scoring information, and a mechanism for investors and fund managers to communicate with each other

How do foreign exchange investors choose a PAMM fund manager?

Brokers can provide investors with a better understanding of their money manager through a variety of methods, including detailed resumes, certificates, past trading performance, amount of funds managed, number of associated investors, positive or negative reviews, etc. There are also many scoring systems outside the broker to refer to. Similar to the PAMM account scoring system of a foreign exchange broker (name hidden):

    Remember the following:

    investor

In general, investors can only choose the foreign exchange trading assets provided by the money manager

Investors risk losses due to the money manager's trading activities, but they also profit from the money manager's good trading performance

    Money Manager

    ● They can use the funds in the pooled account. But they cannot control other funds in the investor's trading account. For example, if Paul has $9,000 in his account, but he only allocates $4,000 to Marcus for trading, then the other 5,000 in the account is not at Marcus's disposal

It is possible to set maximum and minimum limits for investors' trading funds

They have the right to accept or reject new investors

    conclusion

For investors, PAMM accounts are just a simple one-stop trading service. Through this type of account, investors can make profits without investing too much effort. However, PAMM accounts also carry the risk of losing money, which depends on the trading level of the money manager. After understanding their ideal profit goals and risk tolerance, investors should spend more effort to choose the best PAMM account broker and money manager.
