Sterling remains in a bullish trend against the dollar, with technical indicators showing a cautious trend

Buyers are still in control of the market, and any potential pullback should attract more buying interest. The 50-day and 200-day moving averages, as well as important trend lines that have previously proven crucial, are good buying positions. The market is likely to see a sustained upswing, targeting levels above 1.30.

Sterling has been trading near the 50-day moving average this week. Market participants are closely monitoring the 1.2650 level for its historical importance as a support level.Buyers are still in control of the market, and any potential pullback should attract more buying interest. The 50-day and 200-day moving averages, as well as important trend lines that have previously proven crucial, are good buying positions. The market is likely to see a sustained upswing, targeting levels above 1.30.

The 1.30 level has played an important role in the past and is expected to provide some resistance to the upward trajectory of the pound. However, breaking through this barrier could lead to a significant rise in the pair, potentially turning the market into a buying opportunity. If all factors cooperate positively, we may even see a rally to the 1.35 level in due course.

Although volatility is likely to persist, it is important to recognise that spreads between currencies are currently small. This factor has therefore contributed to volatility in the market environment. However, my overall bias is bullish in light of the Bank of England's recent rate hikes. Barring any major "safe haven" moves, the outlook for further gains in sterling is optimistic. However, I do not expect an uncontrolled upward trend. On the other hand, a "buy the dip" strategy may be more effective in overcoming market noise and volatility.

Finally, in terms of major technical indicators, the 50-day moving average makes tentative moves. The 1.2650 level is important and draws attention due to its historical importance as a support and resistance area. Buyers remain active in the market and a potential pullback could attract more attention due to its proximity to key moving averages and trend lines.

In the face of continued market volatility, it seems sensible to be cautiously optimistic given the relatively stable interest rate environment. The Bank of England's rate hike has increased the attractiveness of the pound and contributed to a positive bias to the overall upside. However, a smart "buy the dip" strategy, combined with occasional take-profits, may help traders overcome continued market noise and volatility.

At 15:30 Beijing time, the pound was 2749/51 against the dollar.
